3 charged in murder

LUMBERTON — Three men have been arrested and charged with murder in a shooting that killed a Cumberland County teenager and injured a local teen.  A 20-year -old male from Lumberton ,  an 18-year male and a 19-year- old  male from Fayetteville, have each been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with attempt to kill and felony conspiracy in the shooting that killed an 18-year-old male of Fayetteville, and wounded 19-year-old from  of Orrum.

 

The five men had traveled in a vehicle together from Fayetteville to Robeson County when the shooting occurred at 9:27 p.m. on January 10, 2013   in Lumberton, according to Robeson County sheriff’s Office.   No motive is known.  The department is waiting on a ballistics report.  “There are still other persons of interest in this case.”

The 18-year-old from Fayetteville is facing charges from an unrelated incident of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and injury to personal property.

 

All three of the accused are being held in the Robeson County jail without bond.

Brothers face drug charges

Fairmont – Two brothers, ages 28 and 29-years-old respectively, who own car garages have been arrested and charged with trafficking drugs after 40 lawman raided their businesses, on January 16, 2013. The 28-year-old was charged with three counts of possession with intent to sell, deliver, or manufacture a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The 29-year-old was charged with possession with intent to sell, deliver, or manufacture a schedule II and schedule IV controlled substance, trafficking in opium, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of stolen firearms.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office’s major crime Unit, Narcotics Enforcement Team, SWAT team, Lumberton and Fairmont Police Department, State Department of Motor Vehicle, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent simultaneously searched their business and home.

The officers found narcotics, pills, marijuana, firearms, a stolen vehicle , a stolen utility trailer and more than $43,000 cash.

Man arrested soon after store robbery

Lumberton - A 48-year-old Lumberton man was arrested on Friday and charged with a robbery that occurred earlier that day.  According to Lumberton Police Department, the accused was arrested after officers found him hiding on Coree Street, about four block from Super Dollar, which he is charged with robbing.  The 48-year-old is accused of robbing the Super Dollar, located at 302 N. Pine St., of cash and some pain medicine at about 9:30 a.m. According to LPD, the robber handed a note to a store employee indicating that he had a weapon, but never showed a weapon. After the robbery, police were given a description of the robber, began a search and quickly found Lowery hiding in some bushes.

When he was arrested, he was in possession of the stolen property, according to Parker. No weapon was found.  The accused was taken to the Robeson County Jail.

Two teens shot, 1 dead

Lumberton - An 18-year old was shot and killed on the night of January 10, 2013 and another 19-year old was injured in the shooting at the intersection of Alamac and Rice Roads at about 9:30 p.m., according to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. RCSO said there were several people involved in the shooting, but they could not release more details.

LUMBERTON — A 31-year-old male  was arrested January 7, 2013 and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to sell or distribute, according to a police report. His bond was set at $100,000.
